Emotional Spaces
EMOSPACES is an European project funded for the period: 2016-2019 by France in the context of the Challenge Ageing society & wellbeing of the call 1 of the ITEA 3 Eureka program. The consortium is composed of 19 partners from 4 countries (France, Spain, Romania, Republic of Korea). The project is emphasising on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial intelligence, which has evolved from being a far-fetched futuristic vision to something that can realistically be expected to become a mainstream concept in a few years’ time. EmoSpaces’ goal is the development of an IoT based platform that determines context awareness with a focus on sentiment and emotion recognition and ambient adaptation. The main innovative aspect of EmoSpaces lies in considering emotion and sentiments as a context source for improving intelligent services in IoT and Robotics.
The aim of the project is also exploiting advanced mechanisms of reasoning and data analysis to transform living spaces into environments intelligent services offering assistance services (well-being, health, comfort) contextualized for elderly people. The originality of the Emospaces project is to consider the use of new Artifcial intelligence mechanisms for the automatic detection of emotions, feelings and behavior of the user as the key and differentiating element for the adaptation of the cognitive assistance. Numerous studies carried out in recent years around the world have shown the impact of emotions on the development of certain diseases, especially for patients with depression. The main contributions of the LISSI laboratory concern: (1) the semantic modeling of the context centered on users' emotions and activities; (2) hybrid reasoning for the contextual recognition of the behaviors / intentions of users. These contributions will be validated into two experimental platforms brought by the French consortium: the ambient intelligence platform, Mobile Mii - Smart Home of CEA-List and the Ubistruct platform of LISSI.
